hereonmars_ Brusalan's music makes me see weird stuff when I close my eyes, time lapsed videos of seeds sprouting, mountains forming. The description says these are older tracks, but the maturity of the music is there and it has everything I love about all the other releases. Love the guitar on this release too! Favorite track: Up Past the Mansion on the Hill.

Acef Stripe I have listened to many of Brusalan’s releases and am always impressed with the professionalism and his ability to have the music constantly evolve musically. But what I enjoy the most are those special moments in the songs that happen if patient. Artists as talented as this are getting buried in the current music scene, nevertheless, they persist, and for this I am grateful. Favorite track: Up Past the Mansion on the Hill.

about

In 2010 I finished up all my classes for my master's degree in recording. All that remained was for me to do a thesis or a portfolio project. Thinking that I knew what I needed to do I started writing and recording songs for a portfolio. At the same time, we packed up all our things and a newborn baby and moved for the first time. Over the course of the next seven years we moved five more times and had three more children until we eventually settled down and bought our own home. During much of this time I continued to work on my portfolio songs, recording when I could, setting up studios in each of the rental homes. Some years I got more work done, other years not much happened. I eventually learned that the portfolio songs were not sufficient to complete my degree and I just ended up spending six months researching a paper on crowdfunding. So it goes.

I didn't want to just abandon these songs that I spent so much time creating, leaving them trapped in the amber of that hectic time. So I've polished them up the best that I could with a little mastering magic. I left the mixes as they were. I have neither the time or the desire to revisit them in ProTools and try to make them better. They are what they are, the prequels to From the Forest and Mountains.
